1. Who we are and what this policy covers
Opengram is an independent mobile client for iOS and Android that connects to the Telegram service using the Telegram API. Opengram is developed and operated by Vladimir Dorogov (“Opengram”, “we”, “us”). Opengram is not endorsed by, sponsored by, or affiliated with Telegram Messenger Inc.
This policy covers the Opengram applications for iOS and Android, this website, and the XHTTP and related relay infrastructure operated for the applications. Telegram separately controls how it processes your Telegram account and cloud data under the Telegram Privacy Policy.
2. Information handled by Telegram
When you sign in or use Telegram through Opengram, information such as your phone number, account profile, contacts you choose to sync, messages, media, groups, channels, and Telegram service events is transmitted to and processed by Telegram. Telegram, not Opengram, stores and controls this cloud data.
Opengram also registers your Apple Push Notification service token on iOS or Firebase Cloud Messaging token on Android with Telegram so Telegram can route notifications to your device. Apple, Google, and Firebase deliver those notifications. Their processing is governed by their respective policies.
3. Opengram transport data
Opengram may route Telegram connections through XHTTP transport infrastructure operated for the app. To establish, protect, and troubleshoot those connections, the infrastructure can process technical metadata including your source IP address, Telegram user identifier, device or client user-agent, connection and session identifiers, timestamps, target Telegram data center, connection status, and traffic volume or timing information.
XHTTP carries Telegram’s encrypted MTProto traffic. The transport is not designed to decrypt the content of your messages or media. Only Telegram Secret Chats are described by Telegram as end-to-end encrypted; other Telegram cloud chats are protected according to Telegram’s own architecture and policy.
Voice or video calls may use relay infrastructure. A relay can process connection metadata such as IP addresses, timing, and traffic volume, but it does not decrypt the encrypted call media.
4. Information stored on your device
The app keeps local account state, settings, encrypted session material, message indexes, and cached media needed to operate. You can remove local app data by signing out where available or deleting the app. Deleting Opengram does not delete your Telegram account or Telegram cloud data.
With your permission, Opengram may access notifications, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, and location for the features you choose to use. You can change these permissions at any time in your device settings.
5. Diagnostics
Production builds do not include Opengram-operated advertising trackers or a separate third-party behavioral analytics service. Telegram may receive limited technical app events and diagnostic logs through its API. Apple or Google may provide crash or performance information according to your device and store privacy settings.
If you contact support, we process the message, contact details, and diagnostic information you choose to provide so we can respond and investigate the issue.
6. This website
This website does not use advertising cookies or behavioral analytics. The server hosting this site may process standard request metadata, such as IP address, browser type, requested URL, and timestamps, to deliver and secure the site.
7. Why we process information
We use the information described above only to provide the app and transport, maintain connection reliability, prevent abuse, protect infrastructure, diagnose failures, provide support, and comply with applicable law. We do not sell personal information and do not use it for targeted advertising.
8. Retention and disclosure
Transport and website logs are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for security, abuse prevention, reliability, and debugging, and are then deleted or overwritten through normal log rotation. Particular records may be retained longer when reasonably required to investigate abuse, protect users or infrastructure, resolve a support request, or satisfy a legal obligation.
We may share information with infrastructure providers that process it on our behalf, or disclose information when required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, users, and the service. Telegram and Apple process information independently as described above.
9. Security and international processing
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect the infrastructure and information we process. No transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Information may be processed in countries other than the one where you live, subject to applicable legal safeguards.
10. Your choices and requests
You can revoke device permissions, stop using Opengram, delete the app, or use Telegram’s account controls. Requests concerning Telegram account data should be directed to Telegram. Depending on where you live, you may also request access, correction, or deletion of information controlled by Opengram, or object to certain processing through the support channel listed on the app’s distribution page.
11. Children
Opengram is not directed to children under 13, or under the minimum age required in their jurisdiction to use the relevant services. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app, infrastructure, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top identifies the latest version. Material changes will be communicated where reasonably appropriate.
